Dr. Vanessa Mercado is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at
New York Medical College.
She completed her Pediatric residency and Neonatal / Perinatal fellowship training at the
Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at
Westchester Medical Center.
She also served as Chief Fellow for the Neonatal Program encompassing activities for 12 fellows.
She devotes most of her time as an Attending Neonatologist at Phelps Memorial Hospital, where she is involved in fellowship education, as well as nursing education of well and sick newborns.
Dr. Mercado has conducted research with
Dr. Lance Parton and has a research interest in comparing different types of natural surfactants and their affect on the pulmonary inflammatory response in extremely low birth weight neonates.
