| What is The WATCH Program? |
| |
|
Adults who have had surgery during childhood for congenital heart disease are a very fast growing population in the health care community, and often require health care by doctors who have knowledge and expertise in this relatively new field of medicine.
The WATCH Program has been designed to offer a variety of services to provide optimal comprehensive care for adults and teens with congenital heart issues. It is our goal to provide “state of the art” medical care for you, and also to assist you in transitioning to a medical team, which has been designed specifically for the care of adults with congenital heart disease. Your care will be coordinated by both Pediatric and Adult Cardiologists, who have expertise in congenital heart problems. |

| Facts About Congenital Heart Disease |
| |
85% of children with
Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) survive into adulthood.
|
| Adults with congenital heart issues are one of the fastest growing areas of medicine today. |
 |
The number of adults with CHD increases 5% every year.
There are more adults than babies alive with CHD.
All patients who have had heart problems in childhood should be seen by Cardiology doctors at least once during adulthood. In many cases, surgery in childhood for CHD is a repair, not a cure, and patients may need medical follow-up for life. |
